Beauty Pageant

The beauty pageant is what the women dream about. They beautify themselves, learning many creative things, open up their mind to the world to be able to participate and win the beauty pageant. In Indonesia itself, there is a popular beauty pageant called Miss Indonesia. Miss Indonesia contest has the same concept as Miss America, the oldest beauty pageant in the world. When we see those contest on TV, all of the participants have their beauty, intelligent looks, and tolerable personality. The winner of those contest will be the representative of their country when there are international events and to promote their country. This concept is still the same as the old miss America, but there is something wrong with the old Miss America pageant. Miss America was first held in 1952. In 1968 appears some protest against Miss Contest that leads by New York Radical Women. There was must be some reasons why they do that.

The winner of Miss America had a job as the military mascot. She must support American military when there was a war between America and Vietnam. This kind of job made Miss America as the cheerleader for their military. She must support them in killing others and not allowed to complain about her job. They used women arbitrarily and saw women as goods. It is natural that women will angry and did the protest against Miss America beauty pageant.

THE HARMFUL STEREOTYPE

It is not rare for us to accused someone because of their look or appearance. We often to gossiping them before we know who they really are. For example, when we see a man that has a feminine figure, automatically most of us think that he is gay, he likes the man. In reality, he just has that kind of figure because of his environment or other aspects, and he still loves women. This kind of thinking is what we called prejudice. Violence Toward Rohingya

          Nowadays, there are so many crises about humanity. The most terrible humanitarian crisis today is being experienced by Rohingya refugees in Rakhine, Myanmar. They have been removed from Myanmar or Burma with violation by Myanmar’s security forces. The security forces had burn Rohingya houses, kill the Rohingya’s children, kidnap, and rape the Rohingya’s women and young girls. Those actions are so inhuman, cannot be tolerable, and of course against Buddhist rules.            Violence that Myanmar’s security forces did to Rohingya’s is inhumane. The Differences between Buddhist and Hindu Temple: Borobudur and Prambanan Temple
